TERMS OF USE FOR PHOTOS ON THIS SITE
I am glad that this site has been found helpful to a number of people working on various projects, from high school papers to professionally-published books.
However, I have spent literally thousands of hours over the past 10 years researching, traveling, photographing, cataloguing, and posting these photos, so I do wish to have some control over their use.
You will notice a watermark on the photos identifying them as being from this site. Please do not copy and/or distribute the photos without my permission.
I have copies of every photo as a higher-resolution original without the watermark, and I will share those at my own discretion for appropriate uses. Please just send me an e-mail with the following information:
Your name and location
Which photo(s) you wish to use
What the photo(s) will be used for (i.e. - school project, family genealogy records, published work, etc.) and who the audience will be (i.e. - teacher and classmates, family members, 10,000-book run in 3 countries, etc.).
Any other information you believe to be pertinent for the decision
My e-mail address is as follows (sorry, I made it into a graphic file to avoid having spammers find it as easily, so just copy it down!):
![]()
If I grant permission for you to use any photos, I would require that this site be credited as the source of the photo wherever it is used. The exact format of the credit line will be left to your discretion or agreed upon by us via our e-mail exchanges, but at the very least, it should include information similar to the following: "Photo courtesy of Michael Reed at www.thecemeteryproject.com." I understand that certain unusual settings may make this impractical; if you wish to use the photo without the credit line, please mention that in your e-mail.
3) Because I enjoy seeing how this site has been helpful, I request, when possible, I would love to receive a copy of whatever publication my photos are used in (perhaps not for high school papers, but for public uses of the photographs). When you e-mail me, I will be glad to discuss this with you further.
Thanks!
Michael Reed
